Wild Transformation 11/27/2011

-Had a creative, restful, and productive weekend. Spent most of Saturday handing out free bookmarks to promote my novel, As Happy As Ling, at the Miami Book Fair. Incidentally, I recently finished my second novel and started my third. My second book is a historical romance with a slightly Gothic mood, which I will let ferment for a while before I show it to anyone. My third book will be more of a comedy unless it transforms itself into something else. Sunday morning I made a quick drawing/painting with the type of warm colors I haven't used in years. I've been thinking about using a 'brilliant' yellow mixed with red and white. The facial expression of 'The Student' is ambiguous and enigmatic. The teacher won't be able to tell if she is interested, bored or inspired. Within minutes of finishing the painting, I made it available as T-Shirts on CafePress, and as posters and art prints on ImageKind. Then I went and hit the gym for an hour. Cat Trance 10/22/2011
Searching for Dragons 10/21/2011
When I returned from China in 2010, I brought back with me the memory of the two statue guards that stood at the entrance of one of Confucius' temples. In a sense, I transported them over a foggy ocean, searching for new mysteries. This was intended as a preliminary work, on which I'd like to base a larger painting one day. | AuthorCarlos Aleman, author of As Happy As Ling and Fine Artist. CarlosAleman.com ArchivesCategories |
